Long Beach: Reports
The creative team was responsible to creatively showcase and depict a year of development efforts in the City of Long Beach (CLB) through the three reports: Cultural Heritage, Planning Commission, and Downtown Plan Update Year in Review. Our goal was to express how CLB is making a difference in the community by building a dynamic, safe, and sustainable city that honors its past and embraces the future. Long Beach Development Services provides an array of programs and services that enhance the quality of life of the community and its residents, business owners, and visitors. CLB must enhance, inform, and educate the community through accurate and proactive communications.
The concept them for the design was "A bright future", depicting CLB’s vision for their future, a "remarkable transformation of the city". This was depicted through the use of a colorful, neon pastel color palette. A light, inspirational feel in the internal layouts. The cover images used some of the impressive new development projects, and were colorized using the bold palette for a striking and bold progressive look. Duotone images of building materials were used throughout the book as texture and supportive storytelling. The design also incorporated WTC’s Run, jog, walk philosophy, utilizing infographics, pull quotes, factoids and hierarchy of information to create a better viewing and reading experience.
